I decided to take the plunge for $90 and I’d say I’m not too disappointed because it’s a limited run from one of my favorite master distillers. I’d describe it as a more intense flavor of Volans with some Terralta and very buttery.

Sounds great, not paying $100 for a blanco when I can get 2 amazing bottles for the same price.

Not to be confused with red capped El Toro of bottom shed fame. $12 bucks a bottle baby! 😆 But seriously, it is nice to see you call them out on the price. $100 for a bottle of blanco , even if known for G4 greatness, is too much. Thanks!

Ever heard of Degollado tequila? Found an extra anejo and can’t find much info on it? NOM 1514

I found a tequila that I can’t find much information on. Degollado. NOM 1514. TM didn’t have much on it.

After doing some research, including watching your review several times, I pulled the trigger and purchased this mezcal. Today I sat down to try it, first neat in a mezcal glass & then later in a margarita with a bit of extra fresh lime, Cointreau, & a little bit of agave nectar. Neat, I was hit with the tropical fruit, vegetal, & lactic Parmigiano/Pecorino aromas before getting fruitiness & vegetal on the palate, sweet but not too sweet. The light smoke hit my palate more after swallowing as I exhaled & then stuck around for a while. It wasn't overbearing like some mezcals (to me) & reminds me, pleasantly, of the same sensation after eating BBQ smoked just right. Though it may not be as complex as other mezcals, I think that's a plus for those new to non-tequila mezcal. I'm still in the introductory phase of my agave spirits journey and, though I love artisanally made tequilas, I wonder if, in a way, this is helping me be more open-minded to at least some mezcals since I have fewer pre-established biases/preferences. I've bought reserve bottles, I think the last in my state! Thanks for your detailed review!

Please review the anejo and double-barrel anejo. This brand does not get the attention and love it deserves. You can't beat their products, especially for the price, and the double-barrel anejo is amazing.

Spot on review & very helpful. A bit spicy on the end, but lovely oak influences, fruity/floral sweetness with touches of caramel & vanilla. The alcohol was a bit strong initially on my nose, but softened after opening up in the glass.

I went to all inclusive in puerto vallarta and I had to get out of the hotel to find good tequila, it was worth it! I found cascahuin añejo and the best one carrera 54 what an amazing tequila!!

Interesting, I've not yet tried a Bacanora but will do so when I come across some. I did grab an agave release from Puru by Aqara - Agave de Los Andes Plateado. Have you tried it? I'm not loving it. It's hot w some off notes. Maybe it'll open. Salud.

Hell yeah!! I’m loving this series!!! I’m learning so much more new stuff!! Isn’t the agave angustifolia species what maguey espadín is? I don’t know if that maguey name is just region based, but if not, wouldn’t that make maguey Pacifica a sort of region-based maguey Espadín? I don’t know if that’s how it works. I’m just wondering.

Are there any Bacanoras that you know of that are really unique? Stray much further away from the tequila profile?

I've had a bottle of this for a while, and it is running down, so I'll have to get another one before long. I agree with everything you said - it is a well made, approachable agave spirit. Bacanora has started to show up in stores more than it used to, but availability is spotty. The last time I was in Old Town Tequila, they had a few to choose from. Hopefully, Ferment & Still will bring in a few good ones.

Just came back to this review cause hombre, I just went to total n wine today and saw they have el ateo as their spirit direct and the añejo is around the $70 mark. They have all three expressions but I did not buy cause I just stocked up on the luchador you told us about. 😅 just thought I mention that to you incase you’re not aware

I like watching the 'old shows' you tequila lovers put out on YT, Mark. I keep all three basic expressions of G4 on hand now, but was fortunate enough to find the Blanco Premium 108 at a pretty reasonable price, and it is DELICIOUS! QUESTION, MARK. I love to sip scotch as well, and I know guys have heard of Ralfy on YT, who definitely recommend dropping the higher proofs down with a little good water to cut the alcohol, but it doesn't cut the flavor profile or complexity. Is that true for high proof tequilas as well? Thanks for a great show, my fellow sipper!

I just discovered the tequila recently, and it did not disappoint. I can’t believe that this was only $25. No additives! Unbelievable price point. This destroys any of the Kirkland/Costco brand tequilas.

This is a great idea. I feel like the "NOM and different brands" is special in Mexico, and I looking forward to future videos on the topic. I do have a question: Are there aromas in these tequilas that have a NOM 1414 "signature," something that made recognisible as coming from NOM 1414? P.s. it is incredible how far ahead this channel is in showing tequilas to the world.
